WHEN IS JESUS RETURNING?

Jesus is coming soon?

Question #1 > Has anyone ever been able to determine when Jesus is coming again?

Question #2 > Does the Bible tell us when Jesus is coming?

Question #1 -- Has anyone ever been able to determine when Jesus is coming again?

ADVENTISM for example TEACHES THAT ELLEN G. WHITE COULD FIGURE OUT WHEN JESUS WAS COMING. Can anyone predict or interpret when Jesus is arriving?

OBSERVE:

Jesus did not know the day-Matt. 24:36.

The angels did not know- Matt. 24:36.

Miller did not know [Mrs. White was his follower]

Miller claimed to "determine" the date of Jesus' return by interpreting a passage in Revelation. He missed it three times. He finally gave up. Mrs. White took up the challenge.

Later, some "broke away" from the Adventists and began the Jehovah Witness group and Russell and later Rutherford have tried to place the date of Jesus' return. They failed as well.

Only the Father knows - Matt. 24:36.

IF THE WORLD KNEW--

If the world knew when Jesus was coming...

It would not need to watch - Matt. 25:13.

It would not be surprised at his com--ing - 2 Pet. 3:10.

It would still not be ready - 2 Pet. 3:3---12.

ERROR ERROR Secret things (special interpretation of unfulfilled prophecy) belong to men.

BIBLE: Deut. 29: 29 : "The secret things belong un--to the Lord our God."

ERRORERROR Mrs. White was a prophetess, and could

give special interpretations of prophecies.

BIBLE: 2 Pet. 1: 20: "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation."

1 John 4: 1: "Beloved, be--lieve not every spirit, but try the spiritswhether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out 'into the world."

Question #2 > Does the Bible tell us when Jesus is coming?

2 Peter 3
3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,
4 and saying,
Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."
5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,
6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.
7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
(NKJV)

COMMENT: If the Bible describes the "day of the Lord" as coming like a thief, what does this tell us? Does a thief give us clues when he will come to rob us? Obviously, this description was given for a purpose. Should we ignore it or waste our time by trying to circumvent the revelation? The Lord apparently wants us to be ready at all times.
